PURPOSE OF POSITION: The Business Analyst’s role is to plan, design, develop, and launch efficient business, financial, and operations systems in support of core organizational functions and business processes. The Business Analyst will act as a link between clinical clients with a business problem and technology focused individuals responsible for implementation, coordination/technical consultation and/or approval of selected solutions. This includes gathering and analyzing data in support of business cases, proposed projects, and systems requirements. The Business Analyst is also responsible for generating and compiling reports based on their findings, complete with probable causes and possible solutions to systems issues. The position has a dual accountability to the Providence ICT Manager and the SIMS (Shared Information Management Services) ADS Manager. QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS REQUIRED: - University degree in the field of business administration, computer science, or management information systems and 5 to 7 years related work experience, preferably in a clinical setting;
- 5 to 7 years in a Business Analyst or similar role in an Information Technology or clinical environment;
- 1+ years experience with SQL on one of more of the following: Oracle / SQL2K / Sybase an asset;
- Experience working with HL7 an asset;
- Knowledge of SQL/ Crystal Reports an asset;
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft Word/Excel/Access/PowerPoint and MS Project;
- Working knowledge of network and PC operating systems an asset;
- Working knowledge of current network hardware, protocols, and standards an asset;
- Highly self-motivated and directed – the Business Analyst is expected to demonstrate initiative and to independently develop and recommend creative solutions to organizational issues;
- Proven experience in overseeing and coordinating the design, development, and implementation of business solutions and products;
- Excellent written and oral communication skills a must;
- Excellent listening and interpersonal skills with a strong customer service orientation;
- Demonstrated project management skills and experience managing cross-organizational projects;
- Excellent analytical and creative problem-solving skills;
- Logical and efficient with a keen attention to detail;
- Excellent understanding of the organization’s goals and objectives;
- Ability to conduct research into systems issues and products as required;
- Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment;
- Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment;
- Ability to perform standard application testing (unit testing), data analysis and/or system analysis;
- Very good attendance record;
- Good performance record
